What these numbers are built on
We publish ranges because the shops that dominate this trade mostly do not, and a customer cannot judge a quote without a reference. These are the anchors:
- Slings. Published sling shop price lists run $85 to $95 for a one-sling chair, $90 to $115 for two slings, $100 to $115 for a recliner, $105 to $155 for a chaise and $70 to $75 for an ottoman, fabric and labor included. A national sling cost guide puts the average chair at $75 to $150, up to about $200 with premium fabric, with labor alone $40 to $80.
- Vinyl straps. Published restrapping price lists run $80 to $85 single wrap and $95 double wrap for a chair, $110 to $145 for a chaise, and add 25 percent (basket weave) to 45 percent (cross-weave) for woven patterns.
- Powder coat. A national cost guide puts a chair at $75 to $95, a chaise, glider, loveseat or bench at $100 to $125, a barstool at $100 to $105 and a table at $170 to $190, plus $25 to $300 per item for blasting when it is not included. A published blasting price list runs $65 to $100 a chair and $135 to $300 a table.
- Welds. A published furniture welding page puts simple repairs at $50 to $150.
- Swivel parts and glides. Supplier listings run about $10 to $37.49 for spring plates, $74 for a mechanism kit, from $76 for an aluminum seat post, and well under $2 for most glides. Small jobs in this trade are typically priced as a minimum plus parts; one repair shop publishes a $75 minimum.
- Cushions. A custom outdoor cushion maker’s base price starts at about $40.
Do it yourself, or pay for the work?
You can buy ready-made slings for about $30 to $70 in standard mesh, or $60 to $120 and up in premium fabric, and vinyl strap by the roll. The labor is what you are paying us for: measuring right, getting tension on a sling, fitting hot vinyl before it cools, and knowing when a frame needs fixing first. If you are handy and the bolts come out cleanly, DIY is a real option, and our problems pages will tell you where it gets hard.
What makes a quote go up
- Rail bolts seized or stripped: see rails loose or bolts stripped.
- Cracked welds that must be fixed before new fabric.
- Finish that has to be blasted, not scuffed.
- Premium fabric or a special color.
- Unusual shapes: curved backs, oversized chaises, high-back recliners.
- Woven strap patterns.
Each of those is its own line on the quote, so you can see it and decide.
Pickup, trip charges and timing
Slings, powder coat and welds are shop work. Strap work, swivel parts and glides can usually be done on your patio. Green Valley, Sahuarita and SaddleBrooke sit 15 to 25 miles from Tucson, so we group pickups and list any trip charge on the quote.
Timing depends on the season and the job. Phoenix repair shops publish minimum lead times of about four weeks for slings and straps and eight weeks for frame restoration in their busy periods. We give you a date when we quote.
Warranty first
If your furniture is newer, check the maker’s warranty before you pay for repair. Tropitone and Winston each state five years on vinyl straps against breakage and five years on finish; Homecrest’s published terms have been three years on strapping. Winston excludes suntan oil damage, and Winston and Tropitone both exclude normal fading and acts of nature. The brand pages have the details, and the sling and strap calculator prices a whole set.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are your prices per piece instead of per set?
Because sets are not the same. A chaise uses far more fabric or strap than a dining chair, and an ottoman far less. Pricing each piece means a set of four chairs and two chaises costs exactly four chair prices plus two chaise prices, and you can do half the set now and half later.
Where do these numbers come from?
They are typical ranges built from published price lists of patio furniture repair shops and from national cost guides for sling replacement and powder coating. Your firm price comes after we see the furniture or good photos of it.
Is there a charge to pick up the furniture?
It depends on where you are and how many pieces there are. We group pickups by area, and any pickup or trip charge is a separate line on the quote, so you see it before you agree to anything.
How do I get a quote?
Send a front and side photo of each piece through the quote form and tell us what is wrong. We price it piece by piece and tell you which work is done on your patio and which goes to the shop.
What can make my price higher than the range?
Stripped or seized rail bolts, cracked welds, a finish that has to be blasted off, a premium fabric, an unusual shape, or a cross-weave strap pattern. Each of those is a separate line on the quote, so you can see it and decide.
